In essence, when a program supports plug-ins, it enables customization.Īlthough there are no doubts that Adobe Photoshop CC is a powerful tool, there is still room for additional features that are not part of its core capabilities for photographers and designers who need to achieve specific tasks.įortunately, there is now a wide range of free Photoshop plugins available, as well as premium ones that command a fee. Put simply, in computing, a plug-in is a software component that can add a specific feature to an existing computer program. Moreover, if you have been editing with the Adobe Creative Suite for a while, sooner or later you might come across some of the brilliant Photoshop plugins out there. Personally, I like to use Photoshop to edit my work and am fully comfortable with how to use it. However, I understand that if you’re just getting started out, you might not want to pay for software straight away and might look for an alternative to Photoshop online to get used to before you spend money, and that’s totally ok while you’re still learning! You’ve very likely got that covered already, especially if you are doing any kind of serious editing work with commercial software. You will need a computer that is either a Macintosh or Windows machine. Thus, in this article, I want to explore two different tools that can help you get started using technology to extend the capabilities of your digital darkroom. Unless we are doing photojournalism, it’s perfectly ok to do serious editing on your images. Adams has been widely characterized as the fellow who created the idea of layers in the chemical darkroom and has also been characterized as the first HDR user. Most all of us are familiar with the incredible work of the great American photographer Ansel Adams. There are some folks who call the digital darkroom “cheating” but I don’t agree. Hope this helps. If you’re at all like me, you like making the images most of all, but also get a lot of pleasure from seeing how you can make your images better in post-processing. For all I know (I haven't tested it), this might work with SOME other plugins also. However, if you've done anything in the Viveza window (even just a click) you first have to click on the top Viveza title bar to give it focus before the F key works. The "F" key toggles full screen on and off without changing the size of the X7 program. I don't suppose you know of a way to make the viveza plugin show full screen to at least increase the real estate?ĮDIT UPDATE: I just learned how to increase the size of the Viveza plugin when you open it in X7 on a Windows machine. Unfortunately, the problem then is that with large images you're only seeing a portion of the image. And when I set it to 33% that setting seems to stick for future use. Just ran across this thread, and it works as you say with X7, WIN 8.1 32 bit. I have tried this successfully on both my desktop and laptop and thank goodness it's finally fixed. Once you get it at 33% you'll see the opposite happen - the main screen shows the correct saturation while the Navigator screen becomes desaturated. Set the screen magnification to 33% (use the and toggles to set it). Jan Shim wrote:After years of frustration, I recently found a way to get images in Viveza 2 to display their actual saturation.
